City Information
Modeling

Model at urban scale to anticipate impacts, coordinate infrastructure and optimise development. CIM delivers an integrated view of infrastructure, urban planning and mobility projects.

Urban intelligence at the service of your infrastructure projects

City Information Modeling extends BIM principles to the urban and territorial scale. It brings together geographic data, infrastructure networks, mobility flows and environmental constraints within a unified digital model.

Multi-scale coordination

Integrate buildings, roads, networks and public spaces into a coherent model for optimal urban planning.

Impact analysis

Simulate environmental impacts, traffic flows and development constraints before the construction phase.

GIS-BIM interoperability

Combine geospatial (GIS) data with BIM models for a complete view of the territory.

Decision support

Provide decision-makers with 3D urban visualisations to support stakeholder consultation and project arbitration.

Process of the CIM engagement

A four-step approach to model your urban territory, from data collection to delivery of an operable CIM model.

01
Step 1

Data Collection & Analysis

Gathering of topographic, cadastral and GIS data alongside existing infrastructure drawings.

02
Step 2

Urban Modelling

Creation of the digital urban model integrating roads, networks, buildings and public spaces.

03
Step 3

Simulation & Coordination

Flow analysis, detection of inter-network conflicts and simulation of development scenarios.

04
Step 4

Delivery & Operation

Handover of the operable CIM model for monitoring, maintenance and long-term evolution of the territory.

Deliverables of the CIM engagement

Complete deliverables for an integrated and operable urban digital model.

CIM Model

Digital urban model integrating every territorial component: roads, networks, buildings, green spaces and street furniture.

Infrastructure Analysis

Inter-network coordination reports, impact studies and flow simulations to optimise development decisions.

Territorial Dashboards

Visualisation and monitoring interfaces for public project owners, local authorities and infrastructure operators.

Frequently asked questions

City Information Modeling (CIM) is the extension of BIM to the urban and territorial scale. It enables the digital modelling and management of infrastructure, networks, public spaces and the interactions between the different components of a territory.
BIM focuses on the individual building, while CIM extends this approach to the district, city or territorial scale. CIM integrates geospatial (GIS) data, infrastructure networks, mobility and environmental information into a unified digital model.
CIM is particularly well suited to road, rail and tramway infrastructure projects (including BRT stations), urban development, industrial zones, campuses and smart cities. Any project involving several interconnected facilities benefits from CIM.
CIM uses BIM models of individual buildings as components of a wider territorial model. IFC data from BIM projects is combined with GIS, topographic and infrastructure data inside the CIM environment to produce a coherent overall view.
